Miss Hampton... Using technology beyond immediate classroom implications is a problem that has been at every school I have taught at. In the past I have set up student accounts on math websites that allow students to basically drill-n-practice the classroom concepts. Participating in this was purely optional as it was given as extra credit because of students available resources at home.
When I assign a technology based project, I provide students with adequate time to complete in class during school time. Those students who are absent or miss a class, have to meet with me to schedule a make up day/period. I have students come in the morning, during lunch or even after school. Students, therefore, are given time to complete projects and are held responsible for getting into the computer lab to complete assignment. This has helped me with my problem, hopefully it will be helpful to you! Also, my school signed up with Homeworknow.com. The website allows teachers to post homework for parents to see at home. It has been very helpful and parents absolutely love that they can keep track of their kid's homework.
Hello and Welcome!
As a middle school special educator, I am always looking out for good resources. One of the goals of my blog is to create discussions about quality materials, ideas, and other resources for use in our classrooms. As I am currently enrolled in a master’s program focusing on technology, I feel that that might be the direction we are headed.
I am new to the blogging scene and would greatly appreciate your constructive criticism! Well, here goes nothing….
Miss Hampton...
